As far as politics, there isn't singular "do the job correctly" beyond acting in the best interests of your country and constituents. Your insistence on arrogant academic elitism and reductive binary politics just tells me you have no clue what the fuck you're talking about.

If I want a doctor, I want one who knows differential medicine, not fluent Latin. When I interview fellow engineers, I ask technical/thought process questions, not their knowledge of jargon. And when I vote, I want to know a politician's platform and views, not some labeling or academic praxis bs.

And I'm saying you've definition of qualified is skewed and irrelevant to someone's ability to do the job, which is tied to personal views and ethics, not how much jargon they can give you the definition of, which is little more than pseudo-intellectual "means testing"

I think we are getting too hung up on terminology as a qualification for a job. I dunno what standards you're talking about, because I've never been quizzed on irrelevant terminology to determine my professional qualifications. That's just asinine.

Focusing on naming and terminology is just another form of division. You're shifting cliques from party to ideology as if the latter is immutable, which does nothing to address "us versus them" mentality; a major part of what got us here in the first place in a two party system.

And what I'm saying is the problem is with the pool of people themselves. Someone doesn't have to know the definition of, say, Democratic socialism, to support those principles. Tying ethical policy to understanding of terms is a quick way to alienate voters with jargo and perceived elitism.

I think this argument fails in the same way that religious people believing you need religion to be a moral person does. Liberalism is a label for a set of ideals, not the ideals themselves. You don't need expertise in politics to not be a shitbag. What we have is an ethical failing of politicians.
