personally i think in order for a referendum to go through, there needs to be over 50% of the voting population (not just voters) voting for one way or the other. the way it happened with the EU referendum is that less than 50% of the voting population voted to leave and that doesn’t feel right

i feel polls are a good rough indicator of change of public opinion over time, and considering 51% of people voted to leave the EU, that change is a good sign. the polls saying that reform will win just show that reform are more popular than they were before and likely to get more seats

you realise that being in the EU means we have the legal right to send migrants back to the first country in the EU that they entered whereas outside the EU we have to process them here, so racists actually benefit from being in the EU because it’s easier to send them back

easy answer, referendum, if the uk votes to rejoin, regardless of who the pm is after that, the uk has voted to rejoin because we’ve realised how bad leaving was. if we vote to rejoin under polanski, and then farage wins the next, we are still way more likely to vote remain again

“but you don’t know what they are saying” they don’t know what anyone is saying when they go on holiday, so i assume these people don’t like doing that either?

or if you were doing a joke where you had to speak another language, french for example, and the joke just didn’t work for the french dub, you’d much prefer to work with a french person to work out how to do the joke in french, or just have an english version and ask french people to watch that
