I do think there are tradeoffs with the success of some of the dT changes and the source, but I also enjoy seeing what an artist brings to their interpretation. It’s all translation, nothing is ever going to be “accurate” because it’s a different language and that’s not how art and language work.

This is no shade on the del Toro version at all. The aesthetics just made me think we were going to get something much closer to the book and that was not the case.
I’m not one of those “all adaptations need to basically be a line-by-line transcription of the source” people.
