> Here is the technology that has a potential to make lives better

> How about we use it to get richer and make poor people even poorer?

It's a pattern. They scam you into adopting tech under the guise it'll make your live better, then they enslave you with it.

the "developers embrace AI or get out" rhetoric is so weak

produce a product that's actually good and ethical then maybe we'll be more on board

sure some devs are finding AI useful, but using it to gate keep? nah man

find another way to make the needle move, bro
GitHub CEO delivers stark message to developers: Embrace AI or get out.
Thomas Dohmke wrote that humans are often resistant to change. He said that's okay, but these people should probably find another profession.

What LLM boosters promise: a future where AI takes care of menial chores, and you can spend more time with loved ones

What the product actually does: talk to your loved ones for you so that you can focus on your menial chores
Grounds for divorce imo

This will become more and more common — framework reliance-based problems were a big part of my CSS consulting — but I worry it’ll be too late for a lot of people.

Businesses that rush to use AI to write content or computer code, often have to pay humans to fix it.

put some thoughts together on the LLM trend and its implications for labor rights. there's a lot to be said about the lofty claims of pro-LLM technologists, but this presumes their promises of efficiency, etc. are true.

Someone else said something very similar to this the other day, but.

It really burns me that our (millennials') generation was legally terrorized for like, downloading Radiohead discographies

But we're supposed to be ok with billionaires stealing human intellectual output in its entirety bc AI

I found it! Highgate Cemetery is hauntingly beautiful!

Also checked out a few other @greenlungband.bsky.social - related spots like Helgi’s and The Black Heart.

Whenever I need ideas for hidden gems in London, I just read a interview with Green Lung band members😄

Good to hear AI will help me reduce my carbon footprint, as I've been running my microwave for 19 hours a day for the last three years and have yet to receive a single video of a dog speaking Spanish.
So…about AI’s energy use…

“…to create a five-second video, a newer AI model uses ‘about 3.4 million joules, more than 700 times the energy required to generate a high-quality image’. That's the equivalent of running a microwave for over an hour.”
Report: Creating a 5-second AI video is like running a microwave for an hour
That's a long time in the microwave.

For years, one of the most befuddling things for me in CSS was how “height: 100%” would sometimes just not work. Every time I tried to use it was a roll of the dice. 😅

Like everything else in CSS, though, it all makes perfect sense when we understand the underlying mechanism. ✨

Let’s explore. 🧵
The Height Enigma • Josh W. Comeau
One of the most perplexing and befuddling things in CSS for me, for many years, was the behaviour of percentage-based heights. Sometimes, seemingly at random, setting “height: 100%” would have no effe...

"AI is the future" is not a statement of fact or a prediction, but rather an ideological statement. Big tech is invested in making AI the future, at any cost.

LinkedIn (where over half of the posts are now AI) is doing its small part by deboosting AI-critical posts.
