They don't understand how creativity works. My late father always used to say, in regards to fantasy and sci-fi, "where do people come up with this shit?"

He did not understand, at all, how creatives could just pour a font of ideas out of their head. I think the same is happening for AI lovers.

I don't have any idea where the original sketchbooks are anymore, but I can tell you back in high school I made a comic about a superhero persona that shot golden flames. And for some reason, can't put a finger on it, they became a dog-tailed demon and a girl for a little while.

Meg: Grumpy, tuff 💙 Spidey: Sassy, chipper
Kim: Sassy, chipper 🧡 Tasky: Grumpy, tuff

I like the one on the right, personally. I feel like it pops a little bit more. The visual contrast is nice.

Yeah, the girl that loves Spidey is Black Cat. The girl that loves Peter Parker is MJ.

Such a good series, have the whole thing in hardcopy

If you score your shot at Tasky, lemme know. I've already got the scene in mind.

Mercedes regularly scores one night stands since "he won't remember anyway."

Then, a slightly tipsy Tasky whips up her favourite dessert. Zero prompt.

"How'd you know that?"

"...You told me."

"No I didn't."

"Uhhhh

Actually so real for it, too.

"Do you remember John, that guy who works at Aldi? No? John. He has two kids. Short hair? About this tall?"

😐

"...He failed that backflip at the cookout."

"Oh, JOHN. Yeah. That guy."

"Listen, I work with a LOT of people. Everyone's got robot arms. Everyone's 'that guy whose partner died.' You're not narrowing it down. Stop asking me."

It's why we're settling into extremes. No one believes anyone can be trusted. Especially not themselves.

It feels like it's just fueled by self-hate at this point. Like, is it really that upsetting to look at your own attempts and be like, "eh, could be better?"

Like, love yourself. You don't need it to look amazing. You need it to be yours.

I'm the same way, honestly. I do solid beginnings, and I know my big endings. I just feel like I rush to the ending too quickly sometimes, and really want to properly pad stuff out.

Y'ever struggle to connect scenes and keep the story interesting? If so, what's your trick?

A big note I've been cooking in my third Taskmaster fic is Taskmaster Academy. That, while he'd never admit it, he loves seeing that spark of joy when someone figures something out.
May 2, 2025 at 5:27 PM
Head-canon: Taskmaster Academy is also a Trade School. Like, the reason evil lairs look so good is he's teaching people things like proper cable management, electrical work, construction. Fisk buildings are actually great because his goons are actually certified.

Tasky besties~🤍🧡💙

Yeah, I love that he's a jerk, but if you actually look at what he's doing, he's helping your average lackey. "No judgement, we all come from somewhere. Here, let me show you how to shake Spider-man during a bank robbery pursuit."

It's acutally something I really like about him. I like that he regularly expands the scope beyond America in the Marvel universe.
