Herschend, the world’s largest family-held theme park company, is in the process of buying Silverwood Theme Park! The Athol, Idaho, park will join Herschend’s portfolio which includes Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, Kennywood, Adventureland, and Lake Compounce.

Another Schwarzkopf will be retiring as Lagoon Amusement Park announced that final rides on the park's Jet Star 2 will be on November 9th, the final day on the season. The coaster opened in 1976 and is believed to be one of only two of its kind still in operation.

Six Flags owned California's Great America filed a mandatory WARN notice with the state's Employment Development Department ahead of 184 job cuts to take place around Nov. 2. Most of the positions are seasonal, but some eliminations are expected to be permanent.

Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare will debut at Kings Island in April 2026, bringing back the beloved characters from the park’s original dark ride. Manufactured by Sally Dark Rides, the new experience blends humor, animatronics and interactive elements.

PokePark Kanto is a new outdoor Pokemon-themed area that will open in the spring of 2026 within Yomiuriland theme park in Japan. It will include areaslike Pokemon Forest and Sedge Town, where visitors can interact with over 600 Pokemon through various activities.

DreamPark has opened a 25,000 ft² (2323 m²) mixed reality theme park in Seattle, offering experiences that blend digital and physical environments using Meta Quest headsets and mobile devices. The park features activities such as a real-life Mario Kart game.

After 18 years of laughs and thrills ZDT'S Amusement Park announced it's final operating day will be August 17th. The family owned park in Seguin, Texas, is home of the unique Gravity Group Switchback wooden coaster, which opened in October, 2015.

Disneyland will close seven attractions, including Star Tours and Incredicoaster, in July for seasonal refurbishments as the park prepares for its 70th anniversary celebration, which will take place on July 17 and last throughout the summer.

In preparation of the park's May 17th, 2025 season opening date, La Ronde is upgrading their Boomerang coaster with new Vekoma Rides trains. It's been 15 years since the park opened a new coaster, so we'll take the upgrade and hope bigger news comes next year.

Featuring new billboards and street signs, Queen City Stunt Coaster, the Premier Rides launch coaster formerly known as Backlot Stunt Coaster at Kings Island, will have riders racing through the streets of Cincinnati when the park opens for the 2025 season tomorrow.

Chimelong Paradise in Guangzhou, China, announced expansion plans that includes two new coasters: a Jinma Rides swing launch coaster (rendering below) & the company's version of a Power Splash.
However, the park's B&M Dive Coaster appears to be on the chopping block.

Fantastic news! After months of speculation, Universal confirmed a new theme park will be built in Bedford, UK. Pending planning approval, construction will start in 2026 and open in 2031!

Hofis Erlebnispark, a new amusement park inspired by Karls Erlebnis Dorf, is expected to open next year at the former site of Western-City Dasing near Augsburg, Germany. The future operator, Thomas Hofreiter, plans for 30 attractions, including three family coasters.

Compagnie Des Alpes, owners of the Walibi parks, Parc Astérix, and Futuroscope, announced the purchase of Belantis from Parques Reunidos. It's the company's return to operating theme parks in Germany after the sale of Fort Fun to Looping Group in 2017.

Plopsa Group, owner of Holiday Park since 2010, has announced a new name for the theme park: Plopsaland Germany. The rebranding takes effect June 28th and is part of a planned park expansion through 2028 which includes "Plopsaqua Haßloch", a themed water park.
