People who are rational around every other climate and health issue become something else if you suggest they shouldn’t have a fireplace.

They all believe they can make it happen.

Have been involved in a few projects that did this - requires some planning but can almost always be done.

Great book, very approachable take on (what certainly can be) an often dry subject. Worth noting that that the overruns in the book are also from FID, not from ‘politician fanciful announcement’ stage (eg no-one in infrastructure thought Snowy 2.0 was $2bn. Ever)

Nah, Manly to City easy as. Some quirks depending on ‘where in Manly’ and ‘where in City’ but a thousands of folks make the trip every day.

Driving or by PT?

By PT - change trains at Central, go to Circular Quay, grab a ferry.

Or change trains at Central, go to Wynyard, grab a bus.

Driving, about 45 mins if vaguely busy, say 30 mins if not.

A ferry is the lovely way to go.

We dream of footpaths! No reticulated gas either (north of Coledale Hospital). FTTP though. NBN is all over the place, mainly ‘cause the landform is I suspect. Was all much more kosher when I lived in the flatlands of Easty.
