She/her. I do individual support for disabled adults and help them get out of segregated services and into the world. Love books and pets. New to ttrpgs. Want to help build a world where everyone is valued.

Always worth saying:

If a government has an amount of money it deems to be a poverty threshold, and sets #disability payments deliberately below this figure, it is a kind of enforced poverty and social exclusion, as disabled people often cannot access the same, or any incomes via the labour market.

America may have always been like this for far too many people but this administration is bringing it home, directly and in person, to a ton of folks who have never seen it before

that this is their response is extremely encouraging

"What we can do"
When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.

I had barely heard of Bad Bunny. I'm a fan now. That show was very clear even without following most of the Spanish. Also, it's confirmed that the wedding was for real (!).

Watching the Super Bowl and loving watching Seattle hold the Patriots to zero points into the third quarter. Both defences are fantastic--no touchdowns on either side. If the Patriots end this game with no points I will be so happy. Not fair, maybe, since Tom Brady is gone, but still.

I love the Spanish commentary on this video, with football-game circles and lines: "No one is blocking the passage of the truck." "The man walks directly over and attacks an adolescent." "Other young people respond in defence of the student."

True question about Bluesky feeds: I have muted a couple of channels that showed up in my Discover feed because I disliked the content. Suddenly I am seeing *more* of that content, which I had not seen before.

How does something get into my Discover feed?

the one tiny silver lining, such that it is, of Bezos’ obliteration of the Post is that these editorials have no ability to influence anything beyond online disgust and outrage

there is no agenda-setting power left in anonymous editorials issued from a smoking crater
WaPo editorial board when TX imposes a legislative gerrymander: don't freak out guys! Not a threat to democracy!

When VA responds to TX with *referendum* on their own gerrymander: brass-knuckled hypocrisy, anti-democratic gamesmanship.

There is hypocrisy here, all right, but not from VA.

Tim, Orual and RolloftheDice, thanks for engaging kindly with me in a fascinating discussion of AI "agents" and how they evolve. Anyone following me go up the thread and read it!
i love this

for Strix, being an architect i assumed it was about architecture, but i followed really similar process. It’s _all_ about how you treat the agent. It really is just that. I don’t think architecture matters that much
felt the need. i feel vastly under qualified to write something like this, but i also feel its especially important that we think about the way we use language

1. Be a wife guy
2. Don't let anybody else get away with being a bastard
3. Don't let himself get away with it either

I use gov data, directly or indirectly, every single day. Census. Poverty levels. IMLS.

Never used to worry abt it, it would always be there. Now? I download hoards like a rabid chipmunk
The U.S. government is now inarguably spreading medical disinformation that is going to kill babies preferentially.

Period.

Disability education should not be put into HHS because it's not a health issue, it's an education issue. The idea that disability = health is dehumanizing and, frankly, simply wrong.
