🇯🇵 Japan showed the same pattern.

When people felt these emotions, anger led to direct aggression, disgust to indirect aggression.

When they heard these emotions from others, they made inferences the same way.

Past research in 🇳🇱 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 shows a consistent pattern:

😠 Anger motivates direct aggression
😒 Disgust motivates indirect aggression

In two preregistered studies from Japan 🇯🇵 (N = 1,231 & 930), we examined both the experience and perception of moral emotions and their links to moral punishment. 👇
