Everything in my life kind of imploded in the last few months so I haven’t been on here at all, but I went to see one of Belly’s 30th anniversary shows for their excellent (underrated) album King. Such a great evening!

It took me until yesterday to realise that both Stereolab and Swans released new albums last month, and they're both very good!

I appreciate the seemingly contrasting vibes in this part of my alphabetised playlist of cover songs I enjoy.

I’ve been at my parents’ place for a week and breathing a sigh of relief to be heading back home now (even if I have to travel via London). Very happy to spend time with my family, but I’m at the point where I need my own space back!

My research being primarily interview based means that I’m doing a lot of listening to recordings of my own voice for the transcription process, and I don’t think any degree of exposure is going to alleviate how excruciating that is.

This picture from today’s 10 Magazine photoshoot really reminded me of the To Venus & Back cover, in the sideways glance, the hair, and the framing of the shot.

I was wondering whether there was enough leeway in my reading schedule to permit a re-read of (perhaps) my favourite series; Robin Hobb’s Farseer Trilogy, but I realised that I only have book 2 at my flat, and that 1 and 3 must be in some unidentified box elsewhere.

Once again, cursing past me.

Remembered that I 1) have free will, and, 2) am not a 9-5er, so I’m going to work into this darkest of evenings with however much black coffee and Strawberry Switchblade it takes to make some headway on this methodology chapter.

I got this (£16!!!) cocktail in a pipe-shaped glass. My friend spilled it all over my trousers and I spent the weekend smelling like whisky because I didn’t bring another pair.

(And it was fine! I felt bad for her, because I’ve done stuff like that before and it’s made me feel so embarrassed).

The great minds at Spotify have been working so hard to come up with novel categories for their music recommendations, I see.

I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to get around to reading these books, but I can imagine they’ll prove themselves relevant to the near future.

Last year, I fell out of the habit of reading, but I’m on track to have read 4 books this month (you may spot the Pokémon card I’m using as a a bookmark in TC&TC).

I’m getting a lot of calm from it, and have really enjoyed all of them! As always, I welcome reading recs.

I haven’t posted here recently as I didn’t know if I had anything interesting to share, but I’m on my way home from an annual visit to my friend and his family in Cornwall, and it’s one of my favourite places to exist, period.

Taking a break from foodstagram, so I’m posting what I made tonight from @meemalee.bsky.social’s fantastic cookbook Mandalay here:

Lime leaf pot roast beef, bean soup, and golden sticky rice.

By far, this book is a favourite in my collection, and probably the book I’ve cooked the most from!

The LP, however, I’m keeping for myself

My friend has just got a car, and has asked everyone he knows for CDs to stock it with. Chose a solid college-rock diamond for my contribution:
