I plan to contact our local environmental groups to discuss why this issue is going on in Penryn and Falmouth and how we can make sure our local councils are ditching pesticides as much as possible and adopt more sustainable practices.

Now what? It means this item is coming back to the council meeting next month. We managed to ask the TC to expand the brief to alternative de-weeding techniques. We still have to convince councillors to take the environmental high road rather than the cheap harmful solution.

If you want to help, please send an email to [email protected] by Monday 24/11 by 5pm at the latest to oppose using glyphosate (RoundUp) in Penryn. Let's protect the bees and the bumblebees!

This is only the start of this update process and we will call on the community to participate further. I plan to propose that Penryn TC updates its own Neighbourhood plan (now called Priority Statements) to have a voice of its own in this process.
