In DC, politicians talk. I solve problems. I’m running to bring that Iowa work ethic to Washington.
This week the President came to Iowa and said inflation has been defeated. I set out in Dubuque to find folks that agree, and it was hard.

I enjoyed answering questions a few days ago at the Second District Congressional Candidate Forum at the Waterloo Public Library! Thanks to Indivisible Iowa Black Hawk County for organizing.

Thanks to the folks at the Clear Lake /Ventura Food Pantry for showing me the great work happening there. They have seen an uptick in food insecurity and are working hard to meet the needs of their neighbors.

I stopped in at Sue's Corner Post Cafe in Northwood to visit with folks and try Sue's homemade Rhubarb Crisp. It was fabulous!

I lived on the block where Renee Good was shot. Her death is horrific. We need a full investigation, accountability, and an overhaul of ICE - not a threat to invoke the Insurrection Act.

I recently visited my friend Dan, who has about 200 cattle on his farm in Hardin County. We talked about the economic challenges facing farmers and the outlook for the American beef market - and took a few moments to take in the beauty of Iowa's winter landscape!

I'm proud to be the first candidate in either party to announce that I've made stops to visit with people in all 22 counties in Iowa's 2nd District since launching my campaign!

Winning this district will take connecting in every community no matter how big or small.

The division in our politics, and the acts of violence we saw this weekend across the world, are heart-wrenching and overwhelming. I lit a candle as an act of hope and optimism that it doesn't have to be this way.

It was great to be in Decorah to do a little holiday shopping and talk to voters about my plans to build a better future for Iowa. Decorah is one of those special jewels, and Water Street is full of creativity!

We need to stop the corrupting influence of money in our elections and the shameless self-enrichment by career politicians. That's why I refuse to take corporate PAC funding, and why I've joined End Citizens United's campaign to ban Congressional stock trading & crack down on dark money in politics.

If you're like me and had your Small Business Saturday plans thwarted by the snowstorm, be sure to still get out and shop local this holiday season. Yesterday I stopped at Simply Iowa Market & Candle Company in Grundy Center. Thanks to Carrie for setting me up with one of her amazing candles!

I took a shift yesterday distributing Thanksgiving meals at the Northeast Iowa Area Food Bank in Waterloo. They had given out over 2,600 dinners and counting as of 2:00 pm - truly a monumental effort! Thanks to all of the donors and volunteers who made this happen.

I took some time away from campaigning to deliver food to folks in their homes for Meals on Wheels in Cedar Rapids. Thanks to Horizons Family Services for all the incredible work they do in our community!

Like @jamestalarico.bsky.social, my faith has driven the work I’ve done to build houses, grow food, and build community. We need more leaders in Congress who live out the commandment to “Love thy neighbor.”
James Talarico: Growing up, my church always really emphasized our love for our neighbors... It's no wonder I went into public service, first as a public school teacher, and then as a public official. It’s all motivated by that commandment to love my neighbor as myself

I stopped in Traer to check out their one-of-a-kind winding staircase. Traer is also home to one of the largest collections of salt and pepper shakers in the country. Definitely worth a visit. I love the gifted people and unique places that make northeast Iowa special!

Grace is battling brain cancer and is at risk of losing health coverage because Congress refuses to extend health care tax credits. Iowa’s current representatives won’t even speak to her about it.

Grace – and all of us – deserve better.

Senator Grassley is right about this. Across-the-board tariffs are pushing our ag economy closer to the brink. I lived in rural Iowa through the 1980s farm crisis and saw banks close and families lose their farms. We can’t afford to go through that again.

Current economic policies, including across-the-board tariffs, are having a serious impact here in Iowa. I've said it before and I'll say it again: John Deere workers and their families should not have to bear the cost of this chaos in our economy.
