It's time for Big Oil to be held accountable for the resulting harms that communities are now facing.

However, Justice Alito has not consistently recused himself from considering cases that could impact ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66, in which he owns stock.

In January the justices turned down a Big Oil petition virtually identical to the one now pending before them.

Justice Alito, who owns stock in oil companies, recused.

But Justice Barrett, who as a circuit judge recused from cases involving Shell — where her father was a top lawyer — did not.
