People already don't read enough. Going after piracy has always been a fool's errand in other industries. Artists should be seeking fair compensation from the publishers that are wringing them dry, not going after the small group of people that are trying to access their work extralegally.

It's extremely important that we hold our politicians accountable. Nobody making over seven figures wants another Obama, Bush, Biden, or Trump anywhere. The people don't want another Eric Adams, or Andrew Cuomo. If you fuck up in your job, wouldn't you expect feedback? Why are politicians different?

This is maybe the most attractive time for corruption. Everybody loves him! He could make two or more wildly unpopular decisions once in office. The public would write it off as necessary concessions to big business. Being seen with wealthy businesspeople could be seen as just making connections.

Absolutely! Mamdani is a shining star right now exactly because of this. I think more politicians than you or I care to admit have also been in a similar position to him right now. Public sentiment is behind him. He's even got office, but doesn't have power. Fully trusting him now is a blank check.

I dearly want to think he's just trying to be the populist politician we all want. I want that so badly. I don't even think the meeting with Trump was strictly a bad sign. But Democrats corrupt. We've seen it before. Trust is conditional. The condition can be extended upon time in office.

On the other side of the coin, as much as I want to label Trump as an imbecile, he became President. I'm sure you can become President with flaws, but it really does rely on manipulating public opinion. I could see an (optimistic) opinion of Trump reading the room of Mamdani and going with it.

I dunno, either works atm. Signing on wholesale to Mamdani is a mistake. He talks (and even walks) a good game right now, but he's not in office. After being an idiot burned by Obama, my guard is raised. Any politician, Mayor, or higher, or lower, should be held to a better standard.

This implies that Mamdani has maybe always been running a grift, which is extremely cynical. I do think a level of cynicism is necessary for actually liking Mamdani. Another read here is that Trump has developed good enough a political acumen to see Mamdani as the future, even as a bet.

If you can power through to Sunbreak, it gets way better too. You get a roster of absolute bangers, and the new switch skills give really interesting build options. The endgame Anomaly system is unfortunately way too grindy though, and encourages sticking with just one weapon type more than I'd like
