I agree!! Here is a snippet from senior remain campaigner inside n.10, on his reaction 9 years ago today… 👇 maybe remembering the lessons of that period may come in useful one day rather than recalling Hannan’s speculations

I struggle with finding work-life balance. I know when it gets very bad because I get this urge/longing to see beautiful things and places (I miss Edinburgh's botanic gardens). It is cliché, but yesterday I got to The Louvre just before late closing.

Bashing the French is a weekly headline occurrence in The Telegraph. It’s weird… the French don’t have the same obsession. Her article is about ‘stopping the boats’ though and peddles some more subtle framing of a really tough issue in cooperation between the two countries

Not a week goes by without The Telegraph columnists using a dog a the French as their headline. Her piece though is about ‘stopping the boats’ 👇

👌👌 panel on Labour’s 🇪🇺 strategy @timbale.bsky.social @simonusherwood.bsky.social @sophiestowers.bsky.social & Prof John Curtis. 2 points: Labour needs to do more to make case for 🇪🇺 reset to 🇬🇧 public + 🐟 & access to 🇬🇧 waters is a no go for 🇬🇧 public… importance of 🐟 is smthg they share with 🇫🇷 public 🤷🏻‍♀️

🇪🇺 Ambassador to the 🇬🇧 Pedro Serrano speaking about the #reset in relations @ukandneighbours.bsky.social @husseinkassim.bsky.social… the number plate on the ambassador’s car = a legacy of the Brexit negotiations. A reminder of how far 🇬🇧&🇪🇺 have come in the rapprochement

@husseinkassim.bsky.social @anandmenon.bsky.social @ukandeu.bsky.social kicking off a full day on 🇬🇧-🇪🇺 relations, including Bryce views from different national capitals

His musing on Ireland’s approach👇 and the reference to one Ray Basset… an outlier to say the least in 🇮🇪

Indeed. I think though that it was already there in his book. As an example, here is his analysis of the gender division in voting in the 2016 referendum 👇
May 21, 2025 at 9:34 AM
Indeed. His Sovereign isle was a pretty big giveaway on what he thinks… on many a topic by the way. See for instance his analysis of the gendered vote in the 2016 referendum 👇

🧵👇 9 page 🇬🇧-🇪🇺 doc also has vague ref to civil justice cooperation. A bit misleading as Hague Conventio referred to doesn’t cover family law matters. Looks like policy is to use existing multilateral fora (= Hague Conference on Private International Law). So basically no change = sectoral hard Brexit

Oooops. On Gibraltar 👇

@financialtimes.com: 🇪🇺 member states diplomats reject European Commission’s compromise in nego with 🇬🇧 on fisheries & youth mobility. @pmdfoster.bsky.social coverage of 🇬🇧-🇪🇺 relations and of 🇬🇧 after Brexit has been amazing! I look forward to his work on Trump’s 🇺🇸. In academia, I probably have a few more years 👀 into Brexit, its aftermath & 🇬🇧-🇪🇺 relations, albeit in a comparative perspective.

My thoughts exactly… a reminder that 👇 was actually listed in the actual government paper ‘The benefits of Brexit’ 😬

Surreal day. Still on a train in the middle of nowhere in Spain. Power went down at 12:33 local time… it’s now 00:33 😳

Yes. There is no way he wrote that text… I mean, the use of the word ‘conversely’…
April 9, 2025 at 6:39 PM
Ah yes. But a little reminder of what🇪🇺 were saying in summer 2008: days after Peer Steinbrück said this👇, 🇪🇺 went into full meltdown mode (Irish blanket guarantee, bailouts of Dexia & fortis, Iceland banking collapse). What was an ‘American problem’ turned into a systemic one that knows no borders

😀 oh dear, I actually laughed… ouch re universities. Comparative analysis of two systemic crises who originated in the US derivative markets 🤔 👉 www.ft.com/content/6e62...

Indeed. Was just reminded of the way some in 🇪🇺 were speaking of how banks & financial sectors in 🇪🇺 were ‘more resilient’ than in’s the 🇺🇸 (Commission in July 2008) and 👇
