Not only is this a terrible idea to use AI for, parents are also not asked for consent. Just another form of profiling. Instead of ensuring enough teachers are being hired, and are given the resources they need, the Quebec government seems to be looking for a cheap shortcut, again.
AI is being used in Quebec public schools to detect kids’ risks of dropping out. The government says that parents can’t opt out. Data about their kids will be used to train the algorithm.
