NHS worker: reminds me of when we were doing psilocybin trials. I was against it purely because tripping balls in a dingy side office with a nurse stood over you tapping her pen and looking a little impatient & grumpy seems like the worst possible way to do that.

Last year 3 people died in the US of measles. 2 of them were children.

Okay I snort-laughed. You win this round Abigail.

But being a member of a species undergoing exponential decline is probably not a great experience for members of that species.

Our great grandmothers’ generation clearly had fewer rights and worse access to reproductive healthcare than women in 2026: less access to education, more exposure to domestic violence etc. Yet that generation was much more likely to have kids.

Places with high incomes have fewer kids. Someone in South Korea in 2025 is far far wealthier than their grandparents but much much less likely to have kids.

Depressing article. Features a photo of people in the wood which isn’t allowed. Doesn’t mention the actual reason the wood is dying: sheep. Literally one of the last fragments of this landscape we have and this article fails to explain the issues and is basically encouraging people to damage it.

The IDE for Y should have a feature to end the debate about whether dark mode or light mode is better by rapidly cycling between both options.

Thank you. For a general audience the presentation makes total sense.

Do you have any thoughts on why Republicans send a greater volume of communications? That’s actually coy tee to my expectations I think; so definitely interesting.

I love these so much. Such great analysis.

I am always wondering though: the Republicans nearly always mention X more than the Democrats. Are they literally just putting out more communications? Do you adjust for that at all?

Not all trees are equal. If you cut down old growth forest and replace it with a plantation monoculture then the net effect is to release a large amount of carbon.

This is culturally alien to British people so I think it’s very unlikely. But who knows. It’s weird times in British politics.

If you think that when the crunch comes and there’s a conflict between conservation and profit that this guy will choose conservation I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

I think the balance of evidence indicates Tyler Robinson is left wing. His mother said ‘[Tyler] had become more political and had started to lean more to the left — becoming more pro-gay and trans-rights oriented’. In texts to his girlfriend he said ‘[Kirk] spreads too much hate’.

Globally the population picture is positive. But for the US (and similar countries) populations may start to shrink or the ratio of workers to non-workers will fall. The politics of migration is also getting harder. This will make lots of things left leaning people care about worse.

Corbyn will split the left wing vote and give us 5 years of far right Reform government + the 7 years he handed to the Conservatives by losing 2 elections. That will make him responsible for more years of right wing government than any politician in a century. Worst politician of my lifetime.

I am so boiling with rage after reading this. I cannot believe that the two women at the heart of this are still walking free and will likely continue to encourage this for decades to come.
