The Sacred Underground Film Festival selected my short, “Stepping Gently”, and hosted a fantastic festival Saturday that I am thrilled to have attended! In fact, I had such a good time I forgot to take any photos at all. Here are some process shots from making the short!

A puppet made for stop-motion animation. The limbs are wire wrapped in yarn and the body and head are cardboard wrapped in yarn. He has two large black eyes but no discernible mouth. His legs are short and his arms are long, but he looks curiously at the camera.

cardboard puppet in progress
The cardboard head of the dragon held near the sketches and plans for said head. It’s about as long as a finger. The cardboard dragon but without wings, standing on a cutting mat. There’s scrap paper and cardboard in the background, and table legs. The cardboard dragon with one wing attached and one wing held on my a hand. My hands working on attaching the second wing to the dragon.

HOURLY COMICS DAY 2025 #hourlycomicsday
Hourly comics day 2025, page 1. I wake up, “María María” is stuck in my head. I appreciate the snow, respond to messages, make my bed, brush my teeth, unbury my yoga mat, do exercise, and my dad mends my hoodie (thanks dad!) Hourly comics day 2025, page 2. I help my mom with her cast cover for the shower, get dressed, and eat breakfast. I clean off my desk enough to work, and I sketch my hourlies for the day so far. Then I do my actual freelance work. I microwave leftover pesto pasta for lunch, convince my dad to make chilaquiles for dinner, and take the dog out. Hourly comics day 2025, page 3. I draw more hourlies and read other people’s hourlies. I feed and walk the dog. I do financial aid forms and the like on my computer. I eat dinner and then cut my hair, but I accidentally cut my ear too. (I consider that it might be better to go to a professional for this.) I shower and appreciate my short hair. I trim my nails even though I love having long nails, so I can play piano. I finish up my hourlies.
