Super fun to give the keynote at the American Zoological Association Nutrition Meeting in Oklahoma City! Talked about my lab's work in Kenya, Congo, and with Zoos across the US. A truly great group of passionate, kind people.

An undergrad in my lab just made this @nanoporetech.com library of several metagenomes. All future libraries will now be judged based on this one. 🎉💯

I've never seen Amanda more excited than when she just received @bengoldfarb.bsky.social 's book in the mail along with a chewed up beaver stick! 🎉🥳

Success!! Finally got the acacia thorn out of my shoe from the summer field season in Kenya/Tanzania. Every other day...I'd step on a rock and feel it. Tomorrow...is a new day. 🙏🤞

Intense focus on that warthog...

This time...our commute from the river was stopped by a group of female lions and two cubs, hunting a warthog. 🤷 We had to stop out of respect for their hunt.

Hard to get my grant application narrative done when there are three warthogs cuddling 3 meters from our table.

You always see a lion in the Mara...even when you're just trying to get to the river to do some research. 🤷

Rockstar #UFBiology undergrad #Sierra loading a #nanopore library under the watchful eye of #PhDStudentAshley. The run was pristine. I'm constantly impressed with the sequencing libraries the students in my course have been producing. 😍

Dear #MaraRiver. You washed away our last fish tracking telemetry station that was attached to the bridge you destroyed in the last flood. We got a new station, with bigger antennas and concreted it to a rock above your last high water line. Your move.
