But also interesting to see which people in our little campaign expressed sincere concern that I was ratting out the LFLs. Folks, none of the LFL-owners got any kind of notice or reprimand from the City, then or ever. Understanding *why* is super helpful for local organizing.

Super fun to watch Councilmembers try to articulate why a Little Free Library is just neighborly kindness, the sort of thing every suburban homeowner would welcome on their street, but something like a free food fridge is absolutely different and needs to go before the zoning board.

As part of the organizing campaign, I went around and documented dozens of "unpermitted" structures in residential & commercial spaces. Little Free Libraries, clothes donation bins, sheds, video drop boxes, carports, etc..

Years ago, my local gov't tried to stop a downtown nonprofit from putting something on its property that would be of use to the homeless community. At one point, the City tried to say the intended (minor) installation needed to go through a multi-stage municipal zoning process.

The system that the US has built to contain & manage poverty is also *designed* to inhibit mass mobilization. It allocates far too little in the way of resources and then imposes categories of need/vulnerability/merit to determine who gets helped first, working perfectly to divide-and-conquer.

I'd vote coyote, especially with those ropy twists of fur in there. I've seen plenty of coyote poop get like this when they over-indulge on fruit & berries.
