A little bonus both-sidesing in this other headline: RFK's fatal takes on vaccines are presented as balanced against reception to his less controversial takes, while mentioning "government and industry" as if RFK wasn't himself both govt and industry.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s approach to measles horrifies public health leaders. But government and industry are responding to many of his other ideas, like improving infant formula and removing artificial dyes from food.

The presentation of the context of the new attacks has some really incredible both-sidesing. The writer admits that Israel hadn't "upheld its earlier pledge," but still presents this as a rather than Israel straightforwardly being dishonest and aggressive. Plus the callousness of the last paragraph.
Why has fighting restarted? It's mainly because Israel and Hamas have incompatible visions of how this war ends. Israel wants Hamas to relinquish power, and Hamas wants to retain control of Gaza. The sides were able to gloss over that fundamental difference in January, when they agreed to a weekslong truce in which Hamas released more than 30 hostages in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. But by March, Hamas wouldn't release more hostages until Israel upheld its earlier pledge to hold talks over a permanent truce. Israel refused. To break the deadlock, Israel broke the cease-fire - seemingly with President Trump's blessing. In early March, Trump warned Hamas that there would be "hell to pay" if more hostages weren't freed. After his call went unheeded, the Israeli strikes began.

The NYT's morning email summarizing major stories is such a study in their style. Today we have some classic NYT bullshit in how it presented the new attacks by Israel against Gaza. Right from the get-go we have the presentation of "fighting in Gaza" rather than Israeli strikes.

The other day I saw something that reminded me randomly of the band Green Apple Quick Step, who I genuinely don't think I've thought about in the slightest for maybe the entire 21st C so far. I am intrigued to see that on Tidal they exist only on 90s alt comps.
A list of tracks by Green Apple Quick Step on Tidal. Among them are "Dirty Water Ocean", "Dizzy", "T.V. Girl", Halloween", "Lazy". Every one of them has an album listed as something like "90's Oldies - Rock", "Grunge", "Grunge Life", "Grunge Ballads", West Coast Alternative Rock," etc.
