It's utterly repulsive that there's still high demand for rhino horn, driven by syndicates (it's worth more per ounce than gold), so they have to keep animals under armed guard. But it seems there's a sliver of hope that one species of white rhino may yet be saved from extinction.

That is a challenging accomplishment in terms of laminating, compound curvature, ergonomics (I'm guessing it's comfortable to sit in, I've only seen that photo'), John Lee is just so good with wood.

Brilliant: all buses should have similar heart transplants (& they should be supported by government grants or the filthy old diesel ones should be scrapped) in my humble opinion...

Looks like Santi's overdone the drink again

It'd make a good T shirt.
We'd all be far better off without it, and without Siri too...

Carl Andre's contemporary sculpture (of a neat rectangle of bricks) became famous in 1976 when blue dye was angrily splashed on it: I recall the furure well. Tate Liverpool & RIBA North exhibited about Bricks a yr ago (intriguing photos online) which I'd love to have seen. Bricks tell good stories..

And huge congratulations yet again to you today Dorothy, we need an unofficial celebration (in Dublin rather than Saudi, perhaps)?

Wow well done reaching the top of that shelf and potentially the top of the sales list (with TWO books)!

Really shocking and upsetting to read. I'm so glad the Guardian has focused on this...I hope the publicity puts a stop to this sort of misinformation.

I love shadows, how they show us our sunlight

I recommend it highly too, it's a single villa, unearthed comparatively recently, & full of absolutely beautiful frescoes & mosaics also gardens now replanted with appropriate trees, full of birdsong during our visit in April. Quite deserted compared to Pompeii, which was lovely too.

Apparently it's a mast year for oaks this year

I've always somehow loved, a door within a door...such an elaborate way to gain an easy little entrance...

Brilliant to have filmed it, I've never even seen a wren fan out its tiny tail before, let alone watch it wash. What a perfectly natural birdbath with good cover, thanks for letting us enjoy that!

Amazing to zoom in then notice at least nine frogs competing to reach the view from that tree top

That's wonderful, so cleverly disguised I had to zoom in to spot this attenuated bird in its camouflage clothing...thankyou for sharing

I like the use of colour, & it seems quite restrained compared to The Stones of Venice...

He's given her a distinctly shifty expression...
