It makes it feel way less like cheap marketing crap when somebody's sat there trying to painstakingly fit Nadesico together with Macross, Brain Powered and G Gundam.

It's one of those things where it was very lost in translation, and comes up every so often because especially back then stuff wasn't really localized in a way where they'd end up knowing there was a very different interpretation of her in other parts of the world.
