No warrant to search the computers of a law prof! 😮

DOJ used latest tech to mine data seized 5 yrs earlier in a different investigation with a very different target.

Judge William Fitzpatrick said govt made the “inexplicabl[e]” and “highly unusual” decision not to obtain a warrant for this search.

When you click "add more details," this window appears with a box that will accept additional details up to 300 characters.

Moderators have to go through these fast. Be easy on them by being clear and succinct.

Then, just click the blue button "Submit report" and you're done. :)

Step Three

Click "Submit report" OR do what I often do, click "Add more details."

It's not necessary. But, if it might be misunderstood, esp. across cultures,* I add more info.

DM from account I haven't engaged with. "reply YES" = automated.

*Mods aren't all Americans! E.g. won't know pop songs.

Step Two
Now, it's easy to see the whole path you're going down. Following this is Step Three. Step Four is last.

Nitty gritty. Exactly what's going on? These options cover probably 99% of Bsky issues. Spam or Scam or bot or Impersonation or Election shenanigans or Whatevs.

Select "Scam"

Step One:
"Why should this message be reviewed?"

Select from these categories.

Take the opportunity to familiarize yourself with all of them. Each has a brief explanation of what fits that category.

Click: "Misleading" for "Spam or other inauthentic behavior or deception."
December 1, 2025 at 4:28 PM
Within a DM, pull up the three dots menu and click "Report"

(This works similarly on a public post.)

Lucky me, who received this message in a Bluesky DM this morning. 😆

Friends, here is how you report a scammer. Bluesky's User Interface (UI) for reporting has gotten better. It's easier to figure out which category to click to report.

They made it into 4 steps. (Thread 🧵)

This is a trolling jerk of a guy. He only posts replies. Only on political issues. And, calls everyone "idiot" or "moron" with some scatological phrasing.

I recommend a block to protect mental health–your own.

Even after the secret raid was blown, and they were getting barricaded into a parking garage by >100 chanting people, ICE still didn't reach out to the cops.

Someone called 911 about a "disorderly group blocking the street and garage entrance." (NY1 and NBC News)

Here's the second.

It seems the PD expects to be notified in advance about ICE activity. And, that didn't happen today.

It's been reported that as many as 600 agents were supposed to appear in Chinatown. That's an incredible number. I wonder what is true.

I hope everyone interested in ICE in NYC will follow Gwynne Hogan. She reports with ferocity. She's brave and always in the middle of the action.

Expect to see her @thecity.nyc article on today's confrontation with ICE later on. (Or tomorrow! No pressure!)
