I wear a lot of hats: software developer, entrepreneur, weird fiction publisher, writer, non-profit founder, election worker, local handyman, open-source creator, and Macross fan.

Latest updates can be found at notesfromthevoid.cc.
Completely erased Android Studio and I'm reinstalling.

Hoping that the issue is some old config conflict that's causing all the issues, and not that there exist humans that would ship such a crappy and sluggish IDE.

Been a long time since I felt like hurling a trackpad like a shuriken in anger...

Me: Why is my hard disk almost full?

*Cleans caches and other old development files.*

Me: Let's rebuild this app.

Android Studio / Gradle: Check this out!

Learning to NOT write JavaScript like a 1996 Netscape Navigator 3.0 Neckbeard.

Still not seeing WHY Promises are an improvement over traditional callback functions, but I'm using them nonetheless for the yoots und kinder....

This is what e-mail looked like when it was FUN and not a drag on everyday life. Alpine is an open-source version of the venerable Pine e-mail client.

Installing some OpenBSD ports. Since not a lot of effort is put into building macppc binary packages, I'm having to build from source.

Reminds me of Gentoo Linux from a couple of decades ago...

Before I forget, one of my favorite things I picked up at TFCon this past weekend was Skybound's "Transformers Book One", which is a hardcover compilation of the first twelve issues of the Image Comics reboot.

@danielwarrenart.bsky.social NAILED a next-to-impossible landing with the relaunch.

Man, those questions were REALLY bad.

AI "will end humanity" vs. "is more important than fire"? Howzabout "after the hype cycle dies, it will be useful in some cases, and people will get on with their lives"?

My first pass (before I realized I could skip a few) had me allied with Peter Thiel!

At that point, the site was up and I could subscribe to the newsletter from my various Fediverse services (Mastodon, PixelFed).

Unfortunately, I was NOT able to bridge it to Bluesky like I do those other services. @ap.brid.gy & @ghost.org - please get together and figure out how to do this.

Since I disabled Caddy, I had to expose the ports to the ActivityPub server, so that NGINX could serve content from THAT application server.

Spent more time than expected upgrading an older SQLite-based Ghost instance to 6.0 running on MySQL (now that SQLite support is deprecated). Enabled the Fediverse functionality, with a local ActivityPub server in the process.

Some notes below...
