#HorrorWritersChat Q4:
Ooh this question goes so well w/ the song I linked above. Eyes. The MC's girlfriend's eyes change first. Then things get bad.
"I got a girlfriend that's better than that,
She has the smoke in her eyes,
She's coming up, going right through my heart..."

Pens at the ready, Horror Writers. Q4.

Hang around for the outro.

Oops, I was responding to the question in the post, instead of in the image!
Actually the first thing that comes to mind isn't music that disturbed me when I heard it, rather a song that, after many listens, started to inspire a horror-story-idea for me.

#HorrorWritersChat Q3:
I have an idea for a future horror story in which the main character is gonna be in a band, and it's not high on my list of next-things-to-write, but this question will be occupying my mind a lot when I get to it. I'm looking forward to the challenge!

Q3, #HorrorWritersChat.

Us writers are weird creatures. We can't help but shake and quake over a perfect line, but all the senses will get you, if you're open to it.
And music is a story in the ears. Just like a perfume is a story for the nose.
But can you translate it into writing? Do you?
December 10, 2025 at 8:23 PM
#HorrorWritersChat Q2:
I haven't yet used music in my writing, but sound or its absence are the most fun to utilize when they subvert expectations; silence when there shouldn't be, noises that are out of place, the wrong tone in someone's voice...

Q2.
How do you use sound, music, or the absence of it?
And if we're speaking of the absence of it, Disturbed's Sound of Silence (with Myles Kennedy) is way better than the original of it and you'll just have to accept that.
I will die on this hill!

When I was struggling my worst with that, switching to drafting in docs on my phone and only making myself do ten minutes a day got me out of it.

But resting is also a great thing that we should let ourselves do more often, especially in difficult times. ❤️
