NW Beaver Dr. is down to one lane near NW 90th Ave. and will stay that way for several days. Public Works crews are restoring the northbound lane after water main repairs. Once reopened, work will begin on the damaged southbound lane.

There is an active water main break in the 9000 block of NW Beaver Dr. Crews are on-site making repairs and have closed the northbound lane of NW Beaver Dr. between NW 90th Ave. and NW 73rd St. Please use caution in the area, as a four-way stop is in place at NW 90th Ave. and NW Beaver Dr.

In 2025, the City of Johnston experienced steady growth. The city recorded more than $108.6 million in new construction valuation.

The Parks & Recreation Department collaborated with three outstanding Eagle Scouts: Timothy Pohl, Owen Hartin, and Conner Fitzpatrick, on three significant projects that enhanced our parks.
Thank you for giving back to the Johnston community.
Conner Fitzpatrick Eagle Scout Project 2025, Handicap Game Table at Ridgedale Heights. Families are sitting next to the tables they built, and one of the tables has a checkerboard on it. Timothy Pohl Eagle Scout Project 2025, Flag Pole at Crown Point. There is a flagpole with the US and Iowa flags flying. There are crew members installing the flagpole. Own Hartin Eagle Schout Project 2025, Sand Volleyball Court at Dewey Park. There are people who are installing a sand volleyball court. Crew members are wearing yellow vests.

Bundle up and enjoy the crisp winter air! Whether hiking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing, winter reveals a new landscape. Look for wildlife tracks in the snow; deer, rabbits, and others leave their marks. It's a fantastic way to connect with nature.

Recent cold temperatures are freezing lakes and ponds, drawing people out for ice recreation. Ice thickness is not uniform and can vary across the same body of water. Use caution, never go out alone, and check ice thickness as you move. When in doubt, stay off the ice.

Crown Point Community Center will be closed all day on Friday, January 23, due to weather conditions.
