Creator Chats is a new interview series I'm doing to learn what different musicians think about creativity.

Featuring diverse perspectives and innovative ideas, I'll ask people I've worked with as a mixing /mastering engineer to tell me about creativity.

So the idea here is that (maybe?): being more human in our art means making sure that our art is truly posing questions, quests… quest(ion)s.

A product is an answer to a problem.

But art is a quest(ion) to a question.

“Where words fail, music speaks.”

And maybe even where words can do it, music can do it differently?

Music is like a liquid emotion, you can dive into it, be immersed, drink it all in… while words are solid and need to be chewed, digested, absorbed.

“Make your pen resistant to inspiration; it will then attract it with the force of a magnet. The longer you delay over writing an idea down, the more fully developed it will yield itself to you. Speech takes hold of thought by force, but writing tames it.”

For artists, creators, and creatures of all kinds - I'm interested to know: where do you think your creativity comes from?

Does it come from 'your imagination,' from 'inspiration, from 'a muse,' from 'god(s)'? How do you conceive of what happens when you are inspired and creative?
