First Class BBSes were the best pre-web community forums.
My career required it as early as 1989 (on a Mac). It was a barebones piece of shite, but it did certain things very well.

When my wife and I married in 2003, we shared a twin bed for months. Then we acquired a full-size bed, and used that for about 17 years. We're now on our second full-size bed, and doing just fine.
