Strong memories of working at a McDonald's on the tills where the music was exactly loud enough to be annoying, but exactly too quiet to be able to comprehend the beat or what was playing. On top of the usual lifelong hatred of Christmas music.

Would make a great short story about a group of rouge hackers infiltrating a mega-corporation through elaborate slam poetry.

We're going to spend the next year or so drowned in *so many* infographics from this.

Seems a bit soon, but it would be a pretty good ploy
1) buy up a ton of business logs from small businesses and train on them.
2) get an independent benchmark creator to make a "small business bench"
3) launch the new model as "the best in business management", citing results on that new bench.

At some point, they're going to start getting good enough at it that people are going to start complaining that vending machines aren't real businesses and all our benchmarks will start having names like "7-11-manager-bench" or "construction-site-foreman-bench 3"

All our vending woes alleviated

Funny in the end that scaling LLMs worked better than we assumed after GPT-4.5 turned out not to be agi, guess you just have to make them extremely sparse.

Wondering where Gemini 3.0 went, maybe everyone just let themselves get overexcited by pre-release testing.

Half expecting every black person or trans person having a feed that's just nothing but race scientists or Blanchard due to Elon hardcoding his bugbear Hitler opinions into it, and so it just defaults to recommending the same things it does now if you ask it if it sees the associated words.

I spent the last 2 years of secondary at a private school. It had 10-year-old, highly outdated IT infrastructure and lessons, but an extremely expensive, separate music hall with relevant facilities that was only used by the 2 people doing Music GCSEs that year. It was quite strange.

brb uncrashing the market with the power of getting access to several 8xh100 nodes on my own funding with no corporate requirements or commercial legal data restrictions.

It's quite impressive how well tuned it seems to be so the results are both high quality but maintain that "interdimensional cable" vibe.

Somehow, in a capacity unrelated to writing reports declaring that having state ID cards would fix society, too.

They're the best possible holder of the monopoly, i hate to think of the hell epic or apple would unleash in their place.

Certainly wouldn't fix the issues not directly related to the funding distribution from sales, but hard not to spend several years working at a game engine and not think how much better the infrastructure supporting the industry would be minus the valve-shaped hole.
September 18, 2025 at 11:37 PM
You really wonder what would happen in the industry if the 30% of revenue they suck into the void they maintain were directed at something actually beneficial for the state of game development, or just kept so that studios had an easier time being profitable enough to expand or keep going.

Was also thinking similarly with the suggestion the roommate was actually a trans woman and so the shooter couldn't be a groyper because one would never date a trans woman and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

In the UK, they're running with the shooter being pro trans rumour :L

I was an indie dev at the start of my career, it's amazing to think what I could have done with the tools that exist now and how much faster i could have taught myself a lot of what i did, figure the space of low budget game productions will probably blow up in a few years once the tech matures.

It definitely improved results with older LLMs; unclear if the same is true of more recent RL-based models.
In-Context Impersonation Reveals Large Language Models' Strengths and Biases
In everyday conversations, humans can take on different roles and adapt their vocabulary to their chosen roles. We explore whether LLMs can take on, that is impersonate, different roles when they gene...

Feels like the tweets pretty solidly crossed over into a direct threat of violence, especially given the guy in question was separately dealing with legal issues from assaulting a teenage girl for belonging to that same minority. Even American free speech laws to my knowledge don't permit that.
