Trump was always going to fail through overreach. Going after Powell was a fatal mistake. He's threatened the value of assets denominated in #$US. Nobody will say anything, but his political capital has evaporated with the rich and powerful.

Is it just me or does it feel like things are building towards a climax? That a few more weeks like this will bust something wide open?

The diff between now and 1914 is that they didn't know what a world war was. We do and are cautious.

The thing is that Trump is enabled by system collapse, like in the 30s. If he wakes up dead tomorrow, the fractures he exploited are still there.

Every day the news from the day before is irrelevant.

The US doesn't need Greenland for its long-term security. Trump needs it as a long-term distraction.

America is in a Rules Don't Apply To Me phase. Status is what you can get away with.

What would US Foreign Policy look like if Tony Soprano was running things? We don't have to wonder anymore.

New Year's Eve in Toronto and it's softly snowing. Happy New Year everyone!🎆

Trump's revolution has failed. That, unfortunately doesn't mean it's over. There will be many more casualties before he's done. He was defeated by individual resistance and the courage of federal judges and their staffs.

2 PM Christmas day 2025 in downtown Toronto. Apart from the low hum of an idle city and the bells tolling the hour, I'm home alone and can hear nothing at all. A surprise moment of silence and balance in a very unbalanced year.

A wish of inner peace and kindness to everyone who reads this!

It might not be obvious, but the Trump class of battleships is 100% hallucination. No ships will ever be built. People haven't built battleships in 80 years because they are as useful as cavalry.

The world’s biggest welfare system? The US defence budget. It shovels taxpayers money to corporate profits in an enormous wealth transfer grift.

A key to Trump's rage at Comey et. al. is because he knows he had to lie cheat and steal to get ahead and thinks everyone else does the same. It infuriates him that he gets charged and they don't. He knows they are guilty because he knows he is guilty.

Another day where this morning's commentaries on youtube are all out of date.

There was an important shift in US politics in the last 2 weeks. Trans people used to salt for the red meat. Now they are the meat.

The biggest winner so far in Trump 2.0? Richard Nixon's reputation.

Trump is moving much faster than most dictators to consolidate power. He's has to be in complete control before the economy tanks, the mid-terms, and everything about Epstein gets leaked.

Besides Trump's coup, the Supreme Court is doing the same thing. "Reasons? We don't need no stinking reasons." Lower courts don't ask questions about the shadow docket, they simply obey it.

Its appalling how many people on Bluesky are victim blaming and indulging in whattaboutism. Political violence helps Trump and provides him opportunities.

The worst thing that could happen from the Kirk murder is a tit for tat cycle of political violence. That almost guarantees a dictatorship.
September 11, 2025 at 2:40 AM
I sure hope Charlie Kirk isn't Trump's Reichstag fire. And political violence is always wrong. It can't help anything.

One reason the Americans are so insistent about Europe spending more on defense is the belief it will have to be spent on American weapons. A wealth transfer via defense contracting.
