I get it, but I would never put a heavy monetization game on my lists. I did enjoy marvel snap though.

okay now you're just specifically targeting my demographic!! Love those games as well. They were jank but a blast.

It's their directors' fault, at least for me. He gave people reasons to steer clear and sabotaged his team's efforts. I will want to give it a try, but yeah the vibes were heinous.

still not on the list since that's last decade, but thank you for understanding my brand.

#1 - Elden Ring | A FromSoft game that even the normies couldn't deny. It continued to reveal itself through exploration and chapter-turns, gluing my eyes to the screen as I took in vistas and monstrosities. Punishing yet accessible, the expansive video game experience we all deserved.

#2 - Balatro | I'll just quote my review from last year, which I picked as my 2024 Game of the Year. "Balatro contends as a spiritual successor to the likes of Solitaire, 3D Pinball: Space Cadet, and Minesweeper." The game you can play for the rest of your life while slacking off from work.

#3 - Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 | Am I experiencing recency bias, or is @sandfallgames.bsky.social 's first game a full experience: hitting every mark in writing, music, direction, fidelity, and gameplay? The game we will all still be thinking about over the next decade.
