Much warmer again, finally. Calm and now grey. 36F/2C. Didn't wear long underwear for the grocery shopping. Didn't even zip up my jacket. Think I'll take a nap.

Is it too late for cocoa?

Okay. finally sat down and finished up my spreadsheet for 2026. I've stripped everything that's relatively painless to strip, and my projected income looks it will be larger than my projected expenses by about $85. Fingers crossed.

Jordanes makes the Catalaunian fields into a real set piece. Full display of filial piety on the battlefield.
And looking ahead, one short prose piece, the life of St. Genevieve. Then Gregory of Tours' history of the Franks!

Still sunny and kind of cold. 24F/-4C. But tomorrow we might see 40!

And rolling on Latin. The "biblical epic" based on the acts of the apostles has turned out to be a commentary and not a narrative. Once I figured that out, it's been relatively easy reading.

It's only made it up to 18F/-8C. Lot of sun, but a lot of wind too. Tuesday we're supposed to get above freezing again. I'm ready

Sunny. COLD. The wind is roaring. 14F/-10C. Really like to run an errand. But I just don't know

My constant anger at the pogroms makes me want to contend online. The most pointless response

It's been a grey, chilly day. 32F/0C. Calm. Just had a brief snow shower.
February 6, 2026 at 8:57 PM
Still sunny and below freezing. 30F/-1C. I'm going out to socialize, then run errands. Take it easy out there
February 5, 2026 at 5:25 PM
It's clouded over. But I finished a last piece of deskwork. A responsibility I have kept hanging over my head for unconscionably long. Til the last minute, really. And maybe a little longer than that. A relief. Nothing but Latin awaiting me now
February 4, 2026 at 9:31 PM
Sunny, and actually somewhat above freezing. 36F/2C. But I have things to do

"Did you see the video of ...?" I hope I never say these words in conversation
February 3, 2026 at 6:19 PM

February 3, 2026 at 4:45 PM
Nice night on Main Street. Students are returning for the spring semester. Despite the chill (19F/-7C) many more people about than there have been for weeks.

Still haven't seen CPB killings identified as "extrajudicial executions" yet. The ideological regimentation is so thorough

hate to say it, but I've been sitting here replying for over an hour. I'm sick of it, and replying is the best I can come up with? Disgrace

"The Left" is a rhetorical device whose only function is to imply guilt by association. And what it associates the people it is used to refer to is itself only a fiction
