9/10 Which leftists worried about the security interests of the United States in relation to Vietnam and Cuba, France in relation to Algeria, England in relation to Ireland, or Japan in relation to China?

8/10 Instead of worrying about the security interests of Russian imperialism, the left should consider how to help the people of Ukraine to effectively protect themselves against the daily terror in the Russian-occupied territories and the bomb / missile terror throughout the country.

7/10 Logically, this was unacceptable to Ukraine. With its veto, Russia would have rendered the security guarantee ineffective. That's simple logic, isn't it? But the leadership of the European Left has its own logic.

6/10 In concrete terms, this means that any power in the Security Council can veto the fulfilment of the security guarantee. The Russian leadership already demanded precisely such a collective security guarantee with veto rights for each guarantor state during the talks in Istanbul in April 2022.

5/10 The author of this article demonstrates his continued failure to grasp this issue with his demand that ‘A ceasefire and subsequent peace agreement must be guaranteed by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and other willing states.’

4/10 The decisive point even then was the security guarantees for Ukraine, which Russia did not accept and which the US and the European powers did not want to give.

3/10 It does not object in the slightest the planned partition of Ukraine and ultimately of Europe by the Trump-Putin alliance.
Furthermore, it perpetuates the myth of a missed opportunity for peace, which was supposedly so close during the ‘peace negotiations’ in Istanbul in March/April 2022.

2/10 It continues to place greater weight on the ‘security interests’ of imperialist Russia and its neo-tsarist-fascist regime than on the social, democratic and immediate physical concerns of the Ukrainian people.
