Are narratives of total biosphere collapse helpful?

Is ecological 'novelty' necessarily bad?

What can the past tell us about the human capacity to mould and adapt to future conditions?

How do we live on a "New Earth"? 🌎🦎

A new paper led by @christophlyon.bsky.social asks this question.

The core message? If we can’t fully stop the changes to our planet, how do we make sure the future is still fair + thriving?

When I was a student, I wondered why academics struggled to respond to emails.

Now I understand. The firehose of emails, texts, and other comms can be hard to track. Stuff gets missed.

Humans haven't evolved to constantly divide our attention across a bombardment of info on multiple screens.
