Guys, I really need to talk about something dumb and meaningless. What's a universally beloved sweet treat that you think is just mid? For me, it's meringue.

Numerous Blu-rays and 4Ks to watch, so what have I chosen for tonight? ON GOLDEN POND, on Kanopy. Never seen, never really cared. From an era of Oscar- winning movies I generally can’t stand, or simply dislike. But I’m getting close to the age of the main characters. Maybe it’ll resonate.

At my favorite haunt before the Arrow sale ends, buying *one more* half-off 4K and a half-off book on Double Points weekend. Didn’t use my existing $5 credit on the main purchase so I could clear the threshold for 8 points instead of 6. Then put the credit - and a $1 Off coupon - toward my coffee.

Having just rewatched A SIMPLE PLAN and then having seen SEND HELP last night, I found myself nodding along to the final paragraph of Jeannette Catsoulis' review of the latter. (Site is not serving up a link to the review. Sorry. Probably user error.)

The country may be falling apart, but at least I watched some good movies this past week. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

I just finished THE WESTERN and loved it, particularly SHANE and THE SEARCHERS.
Greetings, new followers! My beloved @mzspress.bsky.social & I have an online arts bookstore, and we just added a bunch of new titles—new, used, rare. And yes, we have merch! See "New Arrivals" here: mzs.press/New-Arrivals...

Delayed this viewing until tonight. Looks gorgeous, as do all Arrow Blu-rays and 4Ks I’ve seen. Unlike some other labels, I’ve yet to be disappointed by Arrow.
Doing some prep ahead of Friday night’s planned SEND HELP viewing.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Dug out the driveway so I went to see 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE on $6 night at a nearby theater. I was the only one in the auditorium - maybe the only one across all three auditoriums. I saw no one else but employees. Parking lot nearly empty. Film-viewing experience: priceless.

Yahoo's coverage of the BAFTA nominations shows a film called ZOOTROPOLIS 2 in two categories. I think it will win both given how strong the original ZOOTROPOLIS was. (Click before they correct it.)

Hearing Delroy Lindo lauded over and over again in Oscar discussion in part because, as many are noting, he should have won for DA FIVE BLOODS. This is gratifying but makes me wonder where all these people were the year BLOODS was eligible. It felt lonely to champion that performance and film then.

Did second shovel after the sleet and freezing rain moved out of the area after 8 p.m. Achy and tired, drew a hot bath and walked away while tub filled. Returned to a tub full of cool water, with cold coming out of the tap. Turns out foster son was taking one of his patented evening showers. Foiled!

Just watched Abel Ferrara's MS. 45 for the first time and chuckled at the importance of another dog-related storyline.

Decided to stream this soundtrack for the first time (seen the film twice) and it’s making me feel happy for the first time on this otherwise miserable day.

MISERICORDIA: I'm finally starting to understand what others see in this Alain Guiraudie fella. (The Criterion Channel 17-minute MEET THE FILMMAKERS supplement and Imogen Sara Smith jacket essay are very helpful.)

Watching the Springsteen movie and learning about the Donna Summer connection to COVER ME. As ubiquitous as the BORN IN THE USA album was, I don’t remember ever hearing about that. I learned something tonight.

TFW you’re just not up for a Lav Diaz movie at your local theater and you might be broken inside.

Accidentally rated THE TESTAMENT before rating the movie I’d actually seen, THE TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE, so I’m throwing in another film watched this past week.
