Well this is the time of the year. Our tradition has been to play the Polar Express boardgame.Yes it is like Candyland with a little more strategy and take that. Yes the quality is awful. But tradition is tradition and we still laugh as we kingmake and threaten other players 😁

This is our memory tree. One ornament had to represent Everdell Farshore of course and the beautiful art by @logicfairy.bsky.social with Captain Bonny. That year we actually added a second ornament because we love the Lighthouse Keeper too much. We call him Frank 🤣

Here are a few suggestions for small games that are under $20.If you don't buy from a company, you may find them on second hand market for cheaper. These games even fit in most holiday stockings.

Push your luck card game. You score the value but special modifier cards will affect the scoring. Similo is a fun co-op game. Help your team find the right card. We own the board games version but they have many different themes to choose from. "Play as long as you can the game" is another co-op game Schotten Totten is a two player game. Zeus on the Loose is a great game. Our copy is a little trashed because we played it to death at home and at school with Kindergartners and up. Great to practice numbers and great artwork. Silver and gold is a flip and write game with dry erasing cards. Water Works is a tiling game with a little bit of take that. Bandido is another tiling game but co-op. Pizza Party is sold as a game for 2 but if you have more sets or can make up for the dice, you are all set. Even non gamers have had fun. Hive is tiling with chess like strategy Illusion is competitive. Players try to guess the proportions of colors. Not as easy as it sounds.

New York Zoo is a fun tiling #boardgame that plays fast even at higher count and cute animals. Hard to stay focused with such cute opponents ♥️. Daughter and I shared a victory (though the game has official tiebreakers)

Family #boardgame is a homemade Karuba that Daughter made for us. She liked that theme better and features artwork she made for donation bins for the pet shelter.
Plays very quickly even at 4 players and is quite fun.

First #Everdell Duo game in a while. This is a very strong substitute for the original one as it combines placement/ tableau,very tight, also played as cooperative,solo and campaign. Why is he always moving the darn marker when I need it to stay put? 😆

Played a #boardgame of #Solenia. Gain resources and deliver good as the Ship advances on that modular board game and allows you to go from night tiles to day tiles.

Another great #boardgame is Tzolk'in. I mean...gears. Those beautiful gears. Place 1+worker or retrieve them but you need to plan many turns ahead. I don't love the 2 pl. setup but once it is done, it actually works well.

Lorenzo is a fantastic #boardgame. Should be renamed to Chrissy la Magnifica but nothing is perfect.
Your workers use the values of 3 dice to get cards to build your tableau/engine. You can mitigate the rolls with meeples and I need it very dearly.
We don't play with the expansions. Maybe one day.

3 pl. game of Welcome To #BenoitTurpin #BlueCockerGames. Always fun! It allows decisions before even starting a #game by naming your neighborhood. My names aren't always "correct" but I made an effort this time. It failed as it worked too well with polite Spouse's who usually only draws 🙂

Had not played Aquasphere by Stefan Feld in a long time and really needed our reminder post-its. Programming and area control #boardgame. As you can see there is a lot of thinking going on 🤭 sadly this one doesn't seem to get a newer version.
