I visited Velorama, the Nationaal Fietsmuseum in Nijmegen, NL recently and it was fascinating to see early attempts to make bicycles that looked like horses and steering wheel bikes attempting to make them more like cars, both missing the point that bicycles are a beautiful thing in themselves.

Londoners measure distance in the time it takes to discuss alternative routes with other Londoners. In most cases this exceeds the ability of non Londoners to stay sober, or in the case of routes that cross the river, married.

Yes, being picked on. Goodness knows I needed to be mocked, and still do no doubt, but my mother used the first of them as a weapon against me when I was 15. It's one of only a handful of books I ever knew her to have read and she thought it was *hilarious*.
