It’s becoming like the special relationship a business has with a local Mafia Don.The US is no friend of the UK, it’s a poisonous,treacherous one way relationship.We are trying to keep close because of our defence, but who believes the US would honour Article 5 any more.Russia is their ally not us.

That’s not the same as what the Russians could do to the UK and Europe. Every inch of the UK could be destroyed many times over with just a portion of their weapons. But yes hopefully what we could do in return would stay their hand.

Fair dos it is a well written article. We both voted Remain. brexit was the dumbest thing a country has inflicted on itself in recent history. I just think Scotland would face the same issues the UK did as the smaller economy leaving the larger one. The UK will hold most of the cards.

True. I’ve changed my mind. Our flag should not be defaced by slogans of any kind. There is a twat near me with a union flag with ‘stop the boats’ emblazoned across it.

I’m sure Putin’s plan is to wait until there is huge civil unrest in the US if not actual civil war and then invade Eastern Europe backed with nuclear blackmail. Trump may well trigger the end of western civilisation.

Ok the sane thing is for nobody to have them. But Russia, China, India and the US will have them. It’s game theory in action. With that premise the sane thing is to also have nuclear weapons.

It is Green Party policy as stated in the manifesto. Ukraine used to have nuclear weapons, gave them up and has now been invaded by a nuclear armed rogue state.

I haven’t read that in particular. But I have read a lot around the subject. I still cannot see how it does not weaken our position immensely if we forgo our weapons just leave them in the hands of murderous dictators. Every move by Russia can be backed by nuclear blackmail with no fear for them.

We in Europe now do not trust the US & soon we will no doubt despise you as the embodiment of the worst president in American history. Every former ally of the US needs to rearm and cut ties as soon as possible. The US is a danger to work peace and an ally to fellow fascist regimes.Insane but true.

I support many of your policies but what is the plan regarding Russia? If they have nuclear weapons then we would be insane to get rid of ours.
