Got tired having undecorated bland everything so I started stickering my laptop even though pretty much no one will ever see it

Night of the Living Dead (1990)

Thoroughly gripping the whole way through. A whole hour of buildup felt like 15 minutes. Falls apart so good. The ending was pretty unsettling in a way I didn’t expect at all. Fantastic. And that credits song! 🔥

Silent Hill (2006)

Some nuances are off for a Silent Hill adaptation, and most of the monsters that show up should not be there… but I still love this one. Set design and effects are soooo good and gnarly. Basically a required annual watch for me.

The Imp (1981)

Entertaining, even if the story wasn’t all that interesting. Some super cool cinematography and overall great command of mood. They really had fun with lighting and pyro and fog.

The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014)

Mockumentary about an elderly mom with Alzheimer’s and her daughter trying to help. The way supernatural horror ties in is fantastic. Some acting was great, some was meh, but the concept was brutal and compelling enough to easily carry the film. This one shook me.

Veld (1987)

An adaptation of a mixture of several Ray Bradbury stories. I’m not familiar with the source material, but it felt like somewhere between an anthology and an attempt to tell a single story with the multiple sources as ingredients. I wish it had committed to one or the other instead.

just took a closer look at this Ys I Chronicles steam achievement...

Viy (1967)

Damn, I should see more Soviet films. This one had a pretty special atmosphere with its sleazy seminary students and rough Russian countryside culture. The witch was Very Good and there were some really cool costumes and practical effects during her segments.

You Are Not My Mother (2021)

Played out pretty straightforwardly, no real surprises, but the atmosphere and moment-to-moment tension was fantastic. Enjoyed this one a good bit.

Silk (2006)

Feels like an early 2000’s sci-fi channel drama series with how goofy some concepts and shots were lol. I was feeling kinda off about it until the very end, which was very corny but also kind of amusing. It was decent.

The Unseeable (2006)

Other than some goofy overt “explanation of character design” in the finale, this one was cool with how everything folded back in on itself. Good one.

The Possessed / 中邪 (2016)

Interesting twist but wasn’t terribly engaging due to some meh acting and events mostly playing out in uninspired ways. Saw a review call it the “Chinese blair witch” and… that sounds like someone whose only found footage experience is blair witch lol. Hardly alike at all.

Shutter (2004)

Does a great job of portraying something really sweet and nice, and how someone can screw it up so horribly while gradually revealing how terrible they really are.

Tigers Are Not Afraid (2017)

Jesus this was grim. The final scene was a little overly-cheesy for my tastes, but the story throughout was deeply compelling regardless.

Synchronic (2019)

Not as directly related to The Endless and Resolution as those 2 are to each other, but plays around w/ broadly similar concepts. This one drags a bit more in its build up, but is still pretty interesting eventually. Resolution may be my fav of the 3 bc the mystery is less known.

The Endless (2017)

Strange concept and interesting reversals of expectations. Pretty fascinating ride. Cool to see how it turns Resolution (2012), a standalone story in its own right, into a sort of side story of this one. Looking forward to what Synchronic (2019) does with all this.

The Haunting (1963)

Idk what to say about this one. It was just really boring. Most impactful part was realizing that Russ Tamblyn is 90 years old.
