Trying to stay sane in an increasingly mad world. Light relief offered by Leyton Orient.
Sorry to hear this. Best wishes and take care.

The best I could find without a subscription was a half hour package on BBC iPlayer. Sure it's been longer in the past.

Given it chooses a new town, I'm just relieved it wasn't Harlow (I was born there).

Currently bright and sunny, albeit chilly, here in south Wales. Sorry!

Yep. I went to the away game Milan, which was interesting. I confidently predicted that with Inzaghi upfront Wales need not worry, before the inevitable second half hat-trick.

The campaign that ended with play-off defeat to Russia was very enjoyable, despite not quite qualifying. Was it 2004? Victory over Italy that campaign was probably a highlight.

Yes, agree. There's been much debate on whether new towns, for example, worked or were just a utopian dream. My (simplistic) take is they did work to a large extent, and decline over the decades has been as much due to the political shift and underfunding from the late 70s onwards.

I was born in 1966 and have very fond memories of the 1970s, but that is no doubt down to my age. I was raised in a new town, with plenty of housing and amenities, enjoyed school, had loads of sports to play etc. I'm sure my parents have very different memories!

With the world cup largely in the US next year, who do you think might win FIFA's inaugural peace prize? I'm struggling to come up with any possible candidates.
