On questioning from Wegley, Pillen said the legislative process couldn’t/shouldn’t anticipate all possible outcomes for how the law might be applied, but I would argue that’s exactly what lawmakers should do!

That’s the reason they are there!

The last time the Legislature moved to reconsider a bill that failed on final reading was 1984. It was LB829 from the late Sen. Don Wesely.

Sen. Ernie Chambers, who supported the bill, opposed it the second time because he disagreed with how the vote came about.
