@slowenough yhe term FOR “word play” if it’s about trading insults is “flyting”. If the context is African American he might be witnessing toasts or the dozens.

@slowenough if Sikas is joining the fray to shut it down he might be eunabke to resist conciliation. If instead he is joking the fray to meet insults with praise, he is unable to resist encomium.

You are looking for terms from rhetoric, not linguistics.
