What I can't work out is if the salt bowl is always open/uncovered. If so, that would creep me out; the salt itself would be fine, but think of all the dust settling into it, the occasion of a dead fly/moth falling into it, or moisture absorbing into it and caking the salt 🤢.

Where I live (in London) used to be Kent... so the invasion already happened decades ago 😄.
But yes - hard agree, and it's absurd how Trump talks trash about London and Khan, as he incrementally destroys the international reputation of his entire country.

... we're visiting extended family in SE Asia now, many of whom have studied or worked in the UK in past decades and have incredibly fond memories of it, but the media message they get is that we're all crazily fixated on deporting migrants.

My husband is a SE Asian migrant to the UK and has lived here for longer than in his original home country. He's contributed hugely to the UK in the near-30 years of living here and has accumulated many English-isms (his blood is likely 80% marmalade)...

I think this is more about poor office design, and the tone-deaf adoption of fully open concept office spaces at the behest of CEOs and MDs who barely spend time in them (or ensure they get to have a private office space, or block book a meeting room when they do turn up).

This approach is for people more concerned with the appearance of knowledge, than with knowledge itself.
