I teach science to kids :: I make free science practice quizzes at ChemQuiz.net and PhysQuiz.net :: husband/father/son :: rock & roll & plants 🌱 :: the climate crisis can be solved
All of my AP Physics 2 students passed the exam and 75% of my AP Environmental Science students passed, but wow did it suck

I also did simultaneous hybrid instruction (science) during that time and it was incredibly complicated! I livestreamed from my macbook on google meet with one airpod in while also displaying in class on my teacher PC, which was also logged in to meet and recording, while drawing on google jamboard

That’s because everyone already knows where you are

You joke, but as a teacher I’ve actually had to consider how to respond if a kid pulls out a gun and starts shooting during a fire drill, tornado drill, etc. We once had to evacuate our high school into an abandoned elementary school (bomb threat) and let me tell you it makes you realize some things

AI contributes to the tech fatigue because we have to check any digitally submitted student work for AI plagiarism. I reverted to all paper assignments and assessments years ago for chem and physics and even though I’m physically grading more than ever, my students are definitely more engaged.

You misspelled "accurate"

I teach high school and I’ve heard teenagers say this, AI is cooked (as they would also say)

I’m familiar with Linux, I started using it in the 90’s and helped write the first version of the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam in 2001. I’m just saying that there’s always someone who suggests Linux when the question wasn’t about Linux at all, it was about a Mac

There’s always one

I’ve owned Macs since 1994 and I wouldn’t buy one that’s more than 3 years old, the hardware is great and usually can last forever but Apple will eventually exclude older models from future operating system updates. Also, if something does go wrong, it can be challenging to get it fixed/repaired

I’m concerned about all this bisformation

I was about to say the same thing, I've been teaching in person since this whole thing started and I haven't needed to take a single sick day in 5+ years because I always wear a mask in the building and as a result I'm never sick

Cute! I had an algorithms class in Python that was not great, another algorithms class in Java which was real interesting but because we hadn’t done Java first semester (miscommunication?), it was all conceptual, and an operating systems class that was half in assembly and it was super challenging

I did! I got a scholarship through OhioMeansJobs and did it in two years from Fall 2020 to Spring 2022, and even though it was a lot on top of hybrid and pandemic teaching, it took care of the last license renewal I’ll have before I retire! Too bad Ohio dropped the CS license requirement
