This is how LA is interpreting SB330. SF seems to be saying 50%, not all. What have you seen?

Those units have to be replaced. In SF code if they don’t lnow the income of the old tenants then a huge portion of the new units are rent controlled. So you are creating far more rent controlled units with this upzoning.

Also I’m not sure what I signed up for but you are labeled a car brain

Yes 28% of LA allows multifamily construction. That means most new multifamily housing goes on busy roads with lots of pollution. Is this a system you’re defending? what’s your point here?

I see her time with Nick Fuentes was very influential.

An example I always bring up is Kevin Falconer. He was a solid Yimby mayor of San Diego. Then he tried to run for governor and immediately came out against SB9 because his party couldn't handle the idea of duplexes. They are so unserious.

Quick reminder to check your kids' Halloween candy tonight. We found sharrows in there last year. Spooky!

Maybe I'm inviting a pile on, but what do...they mean by Zionist these days? Like if someone believes in a 2 state solution, are they Zionist? What is their test for for this?

This is another excellent piece from @ebwhamilton.bsky.social. I don't think I would've predicted how much we are overbuilding large bedroom housing to smaller housing even as household size shift and everyone complains "we don't need more luxury studios." It does in fact look like we need more.
October 30, 2025 at 11:41 PM
What do you mean it's not getting built?! Look at this building Blackrock bought. They are building a ton, it was "Reportedly it’s the only multifamily asset delivered in Thousand Oaks in the past 15 years." Just think in the next 15 years there may be another building to compete with them!
October 30, 2025 at 11:27 PM
This is a great example of their point. Blackrock bought this Thousand Oaks apartment building which is "Reportedly it’s the only multifamily asset delivered in Thousand Oaks in the past 15 years." Not a lot of worry about competition when they're your housing output.

These two are the exceptions to the rule.

As someone who regularly bike commutes by Dodger stadium, I can’t tell you how different that experience would be here. if Ohtani himself walked out of the parking lot, along the sidewalk less street to the train, drivers would scream “get out of the road“. I guess that would give ya a feel of LA.
October 30, 2025 at 1:58 PM
Imagine Ohtani walking to work here
October 30, 2025 at 1:52 PM
This experience would be a lot different in LA, but you’d definitely get the feel of how much our city hates people outside of cars.

These cargo bike costumes are impressive!

Wait till you learn about traffic engineers.

Foggy morning in LA that’s burning off now.

Because Blue cities don't build enough housing, the migration pattern is going the other way, west/north to South.
October 24, 2025 at 3:24 PM
Don't worry, the tour guides have some great theories how they are going to beat this with some good lawyers.
October 23, 2025 at 11:38 PM
"Yimby...could sue us." I assume they are talking about @sonjatrauss.bsky.social and Yimby Law and not just all of Yimbys.

She files CEQA lawsuits to block new housing... at least according to my 30 second Google search.
October 22, 2025 at 9:27 PM
@cohenhouse.bsky.social What's the lawsuit over the Sears in Glendale going to be over? Will this be the first AB130 lawsuit? I'm not sure what the reason Glendale gave for blocking it. Is this going to be like Burbank blocking Pickwick, all performative and then they just fold before court?
October 22, 2025 at 8:05 PM
Incredible stuff.
We need more family units...
But put them on the polluted main streets, not in the quiet neighborhoods they would ruin the neighborhood character.
October 16, 2025 at 10:23 PM
I appreciate the NIMBYs who say the quiet part out loud.
