Comparison with recently made flakes from groups on the island of New Guinea might suggest some reasons for stasis. NG flakes were a minor but important part of tool repertoire, useful for sharpening wood and bone tools. Little effort was put into making, which was part of their usefulness

Evolutionary biology attracts a hinterland of people who are uncomfortable with its ideas, which seem to them cold and unsympathetic ... hence attempts to show that Darwin's model is incomplete in some way, such as the EES ... and now "agency"
