yep - the 5 largest CSAs (a broader definition than MSA/metro area) - which are NYC, LA, DC/Baltimore, Chicago, and SF/San Jose - contain approximately 70 million people, or about 1/5 of the US population.

tonight will be pretty uniform though - the strong N to NW winds are bringing in the cold air (so not much radiational cooling), so the heat island has less of an influence.

it's actually pretty representative of good chunks of Alexandria, Arlington (except for North Arlington towards Chain Bridge), and DC neighborhoods like Georgetown, Downtown, Dupont, Capitol Hill, etc. Logan Circle up to Petworth actually has another strong heat island. I'm at 34.5F hear in Tenley
