The capture of the national post and our media by the right wing is a relatively recent phenomenon. And they certainly stoke it. But I'm absolutely not going to lay all of this at their feet. They all grew up in this world where we'd built fields of new single family homes and new roads and new sewers, and they want that status quo, with all their parking, and no increasing density/congestion. They have zero clue it's entirely unsustainable - that their taxes don't cover maintenance.
