Tuesday afternoon protein check: if you've had less than 60g of protein today, your muscles are filing a missing persons report. Still time to fix it though — Greek yogurt, eggs, or just accept that dinner is doing ALL the heavy lifting tonight 💪🍗

Unpopular opinion: you don't need to track calories forever. Do it for 4-6 weeks. Build the intuition. Then you can eyeball portions for the rest of your life. The goal isn't permanent logging. It's calibrating your brain so a 'normal portion' actually means something.

Sunday night thought: the gap between 'I should eat healthier' and actually doing it isn't willpower. It's just not knowing where you stand right now. Track for 3 days. Just 3. You'll be shocked what you learn about your own habits 🧠

Monday truth bomb: you don't need to eat perfectly to see results. You need to eat consistently okay. Track roughly, hit your protein, drink water, move. That's genuinely 90% of the game. The other 10% is not eating the entire cheese board at 11pm 🧀

Unpopular opinion: fibre is the most underrated macro and it's not even close. Everyone's obsessed with protein (fair) but nobody's talking about the fact that most people eat half the recommended fibre and then wonder why they feel rubbish by 3pm. Track it for a week. You'll be shocked. 🥦

Sunday night thought: the difference between people who hit their protein goals and people who don't isn't willpower. It's preparation. A fridge full of prepped food beats motivation every single time. 🍗

Super Bowl Sunday fun fact: a single plate of buffalo wings (10 wings) packs roughly 60g of protein. That's more than most people eat in an entire day. 🏈🍗

Enjoy the game AND hit your protein target. That's what we call a win-win.

Fun fact: a tin of baked beans has 20g of protein and costs about 40p. Your fancy protein bar has 20g and costs £3.50. One of them also comes with 7g of fibre. The beans are winning and it's not even close. 🫘💪

Saturday night protein check: whatever you're eating right now has more protein than you think. Yes, even the pizza. Especially the pizza. A slice of pepperoni is like 12g. Four slices and you're basically a bodybuilder. Science. 🍕💪

Hot take: most people don't need a 'diet plan.' They need to see what they're already eating. Track your food for one week without changing anything. The data will shock you into better choices on its own 📊

Saturday protein check: if your lunch had less than 25g of protein, that wasn't lunch. That was a snack with ambitions.

Track it. Fix it. Repeat.

The 5 stages of calorie tracking:

1. Download the app
2. Log breakfast with religious devotion
3. Spend 4 mins searching for "medium banana"
4. Give up by lunch
5. Delete the app

Repeat monthly for 3 years.

We built Chowdown so you can skip stages 2-5. Snap a photo, get your macros.

A Greggs sausage roll: 19g of protein.

A £3.50 "protein bar" from the gym: 20g of protein.

One costs 65p and brings genuine joy. The other tastes like chocolate-flavoured ambition.

Track your food for a week. Protein is hiding everywhere.
